About the Place
Welcome to Bakso Bintang Asia, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Bandung, Indonesia. Located on Jl. Sabang No.63 in the bustling Cihapit area, this eatery has quickly become a local favorite for its delectable offerings, primarily focusing on traditional Indonesian meatballs (bakso) and a variety of noodle dishes. With satisfied diners often singing its praises, Bakso Bintang Asia stands out for both its flavor and atmosphere.
As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a spacious and clean environment, albeit with a vibrant energy that speaks to its popularity. The restaurant's open kitchen concept invites you to watch your food being prepared, showcasing the freshness and care that goes into each dish. It's not uncommon to encounter a waiting list, as both locals and tourists flock here for a taste. The buzz of conversation fills the air, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings or meet-ups with friends.
The highlight of the menu undoubtedly lies in the 'kwetiau goreng' (fried flat noodles), which diners rave about for its rich flavor and satisfying portion size. Many reviewers, including Joseph D. and C. Tirza D., note that the dish pairs perfectly with their signature bakso, known for its clean taste and enjoyable texture. If you’re in the mood for something extra, the 'siomay' (Indonesian steamed dumplings) and 'bakso goreng' (fried meatballs) are also crowd-pleasers.
For those with a sweet tooth, Bakso Bintang Asia serves up 'es podeng', which has been well-received by customers like Joseph D. It’s a refreshing end to a hearty meal, providing a great contrast after indulging in savory dishes. Meanwhile, the viral 'meatball with pho soup' offers a unique twist that showcases the fusion of traditional Indonesian flavors with Vietnamese influences, allowing diners to customize their experience.
While the food speaks volumes, there are aspects to consider. Reviewers mention that the limited parking space can be tricky, especially during peak hours, and that the lack of air conditioning may make visits during hot days a bit uncomfortable. However, the friendly and efficient service often compensates for these minor inconveniences, ensuring that your dining experience remains pleasant.
In sum, Bakso Bintang Asia is not just a restaurant; it's a bustling hub of flavors and camaraderie. With a menu that caters to both the adventurous and traditional palates and a lively atmosphere that invites you to relax and savor your meal, it’s no wonder this place has earned such a loyal following. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Bandung, a visit to Bakso Bintang Asia promises a delightful culinary experience that you won’t soon forget.
“ Decent price, decent portion, and tastes good. Last time I tried "Kwetiauw Goreng Telur Bebek", it tastes good. Services were satisfying. The place was big, clean, and comfortable enough. Good place to eat and hangout with your friends or family. Last visit on: 31 May 2025, 12:00 WIB. ”
“ Plus side: 1. The kwetiau goreng is very good, I highly recommend it 2. The bakso is also okay 3. The es podeng is quite good 4. The siomay and bakso goreng is very good Minus side: 1. The chilli is not so spicy 2. Their burners is very loud, it's very hard to talk 3. If you want to order bugis mandi you need to order it ahead because it will take 15-20 minutes to prepare ”
“ Bakso Bintang Asia was our very first stop after arriving in Bandung. It was already a little past lunchtime, and we were absolutely starving. I had read reviews saying this place is always packed even on weekdays and parking can be a challenge. True enough, the restaurant was crowded you need to put your name on the waiting list. If you miss your name being called, you’ll need to re-register and wait all over again. A little downside was the service. One of the waitresses didn’t seem very friendly, she avoided eye contact and ignored customers even after being called out multiple times. Maybe she was having a tough day, but I do hope the management looks into better shift support so service doesn’t suffer when someone isn’t feeling their best. As for the food, we ordered Nasi Sapi Bakar Telur Ceplok, Kwetiau Goreng Telur Bebek, Bakso Paket Campur, and Cireng Cabe Garam. The highlight for me was the Nasi Sapi Bakar (this was actually my husband’s order, but I’ll be getting that for myself next time!). The bakso came with a warm, comforting broth, the kwetiau was decent, and the cireng was okay (though a bit too oily). Next time, I’d love to try their Es Cincau or Es Jeruk Sonkit, which I’ve read good things about. Despite the hectic service and long queue, Bakso Bintang Asia delivers on flavor and is definitely worth a visit. Just come prepared with a little patience. ”
“ My sister and I were curious about their bakso. So, it was my first time coming here during brunch time on the weekend. When I arrived, I was put on the waiting list. The seating area is quite spacious, but during peak hours, it still can't keep up with the demand. The concept is an open kitchen, and the service is quite fast and good. (-): - Limited parking space. - No AC, only fans. What we ordered: - Bakso halus + kwetiau: 8.5/10, the portion was just right for brunch-not too big, and not too small. The broth was light, similar to pho, and I liked it. I think the kwetiau was homemade. The bakso texture was soft and chewy. - Bakso halus + bihun: 8.5/10, same as above. - Bakso goreng: 8/10. The texture was chewy with a crunchy outside. The bakso itself was quite big. - Kue cucur gula aren: 8.5/10, not too sweet. - Onde kacang hijau: 8.5/10, crunchy outside, soft inside. Not too sweet. - Onde Wijen Hitam: 8.5/10, crunchy outside, soft inside. Not too sweet. Overall, the food that we ordered was quite delicious. Unfortunately, the bakso was served with celery instead of cilantro. As a cilantro lover, I was disappointed. Still, I would come back to try another dish from their menu. ”
“ The viral 'meatball with pho soup' You can definitely tell that the bowl is very 'clean' and taste a bit of the pho spices. Adjust the soup to your liking by adding vinegar, white pepper, msg, soy sauce, or sambal. ”
